Hello world!

Rurality – We are here! Where is here, well it’s a small village in Norfolk, UK, called Norton Subcourse, and is the start of our move to a simpler way of life. This is not going to be about going organic or running a smallholding but is more to do with enjoying the simple things and trying not to stress about things which really do not matter.

For example, our daughters school. Every weekday we make the short trip to school but now it’s an enjoyable walk or cycle ride – the car stays at home whatever the weather. On the way back we might stop at the village shop and get a paper or some eggs for breakfast. As a result we see different wildlife each day as the seasons change – small things, but it does make you feel more connected with the world.

More later, it’s time to go and make a coffee – no instant for me, instead it’ll be a fresh grind of some blue mountain berries, then let it brew for a couple of minutes in the french press before pouring it with some warmed milk over demerara sugar. No rush, more time to savour the simple pleasure of a coffee.
